    Turn This Mutha Out

    • Year Released: 1977
    Turn This Mutha Out is an album by Idris Muhammad. It was produced and arranged by CTI/kudu staff man David Matthews and was aimed more at the R/dance market rather than to jazz buyers. It spawned two pop and R hits, the title track and Could Heaven Ever Be Like This. It was also one of a few albums on CTI/kudu not produced by label owner, Creed Taylor. 1. Could Heaven Ever Be Like This 2. Camby Bolongo 3. Turn This Mutha Out 4. Tasty Cakes 5. Crab Apple 6. Moon Hymn 7. Say What MC Hammer had a popular rap song also called "Turn This Mutha Out" from his 1988 album Let's Get It Started which was accompanied by a music video. The track samples George Clinton's "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)", as well as the Incredible Bongo Band's "Apache". The rap single peaked at #3 on the US Rap charts and cracked the Top-15 on both the Dance and R charts (#12). Allmusic
