About Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)

Oddly, this is the equivalent to HIV, only for felines and it is not transmitted sexually either. FIV is usually spread through bite wounds, and any cats that are territorial or outdoor cats are the until it progresses and becomes active. Some symptoms include: enlarged lymph nodes, ulcers on the tongue, inflamed gums, progressive weight loss, poor coat and skin diseases, diarrhea, eye disease and cancer. To help prevent this, keep your cat indoors and make sure it gets vaccinated.
